Migami has secured a worldwide, exclusive license (except for cold remedies) for a propriety, nasal-gel, delivery-system technology (also known as transmucosal). Nasal-gel delivery systems introduce drugs / actives across the mucous membrane, which allows for the avoidance of the gastrointestinal tract and first-pass liver metabolism, and consequently allows the therapeutic to directly enter into circulation. Membranes are thin, thus allowing for the (i) rapid uptake of a drug into the body; (ii) direct absorption into body; (iii) rapid onset of desired results; and (iv) lower dosage requirement. The delivery systems are relatively simple and comparatively inexpensive to produce. Delivery types include (i) nasal spray; (ii) pump; or (iii) gel form.
Migami and its partners invented, developed and launched two (2) OTC products with a value of over USD 120 Million on an initial investment over USD 5 Million. The growth rate for nasal gel delivery systems is expected to increase 11% annually through 2007. Worldwide market revenues are at USD 3 Billion with the United States at 55%, Europe at 30% and Japan at 10%.
